Comments: Dear Enthusiasts,

I lived in NY for 14.5 years and apart from meeting Senator Moynihan and his staff, I am an ardent ferroequinologist. I have always thought that the Post Office building would make an excellent train station and therefore I am fully behind this concept of having a new station dedicated to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Comments: Build it! The current Penn Station is ugly and two out of every three people who work in Manhattan are fron NJ. I think we New Jersey-ians deserve a nice terminal. They never should have torn down the first one in the first place! It was beautiful.

Comments: Now is the time to focus on infrastructure, and anyone who has ever walked through the Hilton passage at Penn (connecting 1 train to the Amtrak concourse) knows that Penn Station is in sore need of replacement!

Comments: The demoltion of the original PennStation was a travesty that should never have occured. Now the city and people of New York have the oppurtunity to rebuild the grandeur, and they should make good on that oppurtunity.

Comments: It is about time New york get serious about building and creating a inviting, efficent, effect and artistic train station for this nation's largest city. The original design would be a major boost to the image of green, vibarant city that welcomes train passengers with commerce and artistic vibrancy. Londaon, Paris. Tokyo, and nations through out the world see train stations as places that mirror the city's dynamic people and commerce. Penn Station is dismal and an embarrassment.(so is Madison Square Garden). In the 21st century, no hub of transportation should look like Penn station. ACT NOW!!

Comments: If we are ever going to broaden the use of public transportation, and achieve all the benefits that go with that, then we need to reinvest the experience with a sense of beauty and grandeur. Shabby basements and dirty platforms won't do. Rarely does any city have the chance to undo a blunder on the scale of Penn Station's destruction. New York needs to seize the unique opportunity it has, and give Charles McKim a fitting run for his money.

Comments: The ARC tunnel must not be built as currently planned. Go back to the original design that had it connect with Penn station and had the option of linking with Grand Central. The current plan for a separate, deep underground terminal for NJT only is a huge mistake.

Comments: Comparing the new and the old Penn Station, renowned Yale architectural historian Vincent Scully once wrote, One entered the city like a god; one scuttles in now like a rat.

I would love to see Penn Station restored to its former grandeur for us and our children for all time. At present, Penn Station carries four times the passenger volume of Grand Central Terminal & is the busiest rail terminal in North America. We should rebuild it with the original materials (Stone, not concrete. Wood, not aluminum). The surviving architectural bits from the original (the stone eagles, etc.) should be recovered and incorporated into the rebuilt structure. We should bring back the skylight, the massive grand waiting room, the sprawling concourse & the original analog clock. In Europe, many grand public buildings destroyed during the war (The Frauenkirche in Dresden, for example) were restored to their original glory. We need to do the same in New York & enter the city like gods again.

Comments: I lived in NYC for 15 years, from 1990 to 2005. I love the city and its architectural heritage. I often wish I could travel to the past and see NYC as it was before I was born. If I did have the magic power to do so, and could visit only one building in Manhattan, I would choose see the old Penn Station. Unfortunately, it was razed 5 years before I was born, and I never got to see it. I envy people who are old enough to have actually walked through it and seen it with their own eyes. Its destruction was a CRIME. What they put in its place is a CRIME. Please give us retribution, by building a beautiful station to replace the rat hole that exists now, one that will emulate the glory that existed before. PLEASE.

Comments: As a train traveler to NYC, I cannot express how much this new station would increase my enthusiasm for visiting the city. The current Penn station is long past it's prime and with just a fraction of what is being put into sports venues, NEw York could have a fitting and PROFITABLE rail entrance to the city. Please build this station today!
