The Friends testify on the scope

Many of the Friends testified yesterday afternoon on the scoping document that kicks off the environmental approvals process for Moynihan Station. Although we all support the project generally, we took this opportunity to make our recommendations, including:

-  Make Moynihan Station the highest priority of the City and State (AIA)
-  Emphasize flexibility and interoperability in the design of the public transportation elements (PCAC)
-  Transform West 33rd Street, from Broadway to the Hudson River, into a great pedestrian way (Stringer)
-  Comply with historic preservation standards and agree to a review by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (NY Landmarks Conservancy)
-  Consider the historic resources in the surrounding district (MAS)
-  Study an alternative that includes less than 1.1 MSF of retail in Moynihan East (RPA)
-  Study and address the traffic impacts of transferring Farley's Post Office operations to the Morgan Facility (Duane)
-  Remember that this location is one of the most resource-conserving development areas in the country (NY Building Congress)
-  Build the kind of infrastructure that will allow the City to remain the financial capital of the world (GCA)
