Maura Moynihan, daughter of the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and a senior fellow at Regional Plan Association, announced the formation of Friends of Moynihan Station in August 2005. Moynihan will act as Executive Director of the Friends, a coalition of citizens and civic leaders convened by Regional Plan Association to advocate the construction of a grand new train station complex on the site of the existing Penn Station / Madison Square Garden, as well as across Eighth Avenue in the landmark Farley Farley Post Office Building.
